Ryan Grant To Make Debut Against Falcons; Evan Royster Active
LANDOVER, Md. – Evan Royster, who was listed as questionable on the injury report Friday, will play for the Washington Redskins on Sunday against Atlanta.
Royster originally sprained the PCL in his right knee late in the Redskins’ loss to Cincinnati on Sept. 23, but it was a minor sprain and he remained limited in practice the following week. He played at Tampa Bay last weekend, rushing twice for four yards and catching three passes for 15 yards, as the primary backup to Alfred Morris.
Ryan Grant, who was signed by the Redskins early last week but was inactive for the game against the Buccaneers, will make his debut. A starter for much of his five years in Green Bay, Grant has twice surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in a season.
Receiver Dezmon Briscoe is among the healthy scratches for the Redskins. Briscoe has played only a limited role for the Redskins and has not yet caught a pass this season. Aldrick Robinson, who has seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown this season, was limited in practice much of the week with a concussion but will play.
For Atlanta, fullback Lousaka Polite and defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi will not play because of injury, while quarterback Dominique Davis, cornerback Terrence Johnson, left tackle Lamar Holmes and defensive end Cliff Matthews were also listed as inactive. Tight end Michael Palmer, battling a shoulder injury, was ruled out on Friday.
Cornerback Cedric Griffin, who pulled a hamstring, and strong safety Brandon Meriweather, bothered by a sprained left knee, were ruled out for the game earlier in the week. Quarterback Rex Grossman, right guard Adam Gettis, left guard Josh LeRibeus and outside linebacker Markus White are amongst the healthy scratches.
