Robert Griffin III Earns Second Rookie Of The Week Award
ASHBURN – The NFL announced Friday that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was named the Pepsi Max Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Griffin went 26-for-35 for 323 yards and ran eight times for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Redskins’ 24-22 come-from-behind victory at Tampa Bay on Sunday.
He was chosen through online fan balloting and beat out four other finalists: New England running back Brandon Bolden, Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict, Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill and St. Louis kicker Greg Zuerlein.
Five weekly winners will be chosen as finalists for Pepsi’s Rookie of the Year award, and the winner of that honor, also elected through online fan balloting, will be named in February.
