ASHBURN – Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder said rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III “is a big deal for everybody” after the team’s “Fan Appreciation Day” celebration at Redskins Park on Saturday.

“I think it’s obviously exciting for everybody,” Snyder said, speaking to the media for a little over a minute – his first interaction in over a year. “It’s a big deal. We’re just thrilled with him as a person and what he stands for as a Redskin. It’s exciting for Redskins nation.”
Snyder said Griffin’s standing as “a top pick in the draft and a Heisman-winning quarterback” is “as good as you’ll get” and has contributed to a level of excitement not reached in Washington in some time.
“Everything takes time, as you guys know, and we’re just excited to have him,” Snyder said. “With Coach [Mike] Shanahan, everything we’re building right now, we’re excited for the future.”
