Former Baylor Receiver Josh Gordon Heading To Cleveland
Baylor receiver Josh Gordon was selected by Cleveland in the NFL’s supplemental draft on Thursday, with the Browns submitting a second-round bid to acquire the sophomore.
The 6-foot-3, 224-pound Gordon was the only player chosen in the supplemental draft, where teams bid selections in the next year’s draft to acquire players who are ruled ineligible to play for their college teams. Thus, the Browns will not have a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
CBS Sports reported Wednesday that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had been pushing the team to select Gordon, a former collegiate teammate, in the supplemental draft. The Redskins never had that opportunity; they do not possess a first-round pick in next April’s draft, and the Browns’ second-round chance to bid for Gordon came before the Redskins’.
