Jabar Gaffney Downplays Comments Made To Cowboys Fan Via Twitter

ASHBURN – Jabar Gaffney downplayed the comments he made toward a Dallas fan via his Twitter page late Sunday after the Washington Redskins lost to the Cowboys 27-24 in overtime at FedEx Field.

The fan, whose Twitter page lists his name as Blake McIntyre, sent a tweet to Gaffney pointing out the Redskins’ record. But McIntyre said the Redskins were 3-9, and not 3-7, which Gaffney responded with and used an expletive.

McIntyre responded acknowledging the mistake and wishing Gaffney luck, to which Gaffney replied, “3-7 ain’t a record to be proud of I’m just proud I ain’t you get a life or kill [yourself].”

Gaffney, who joined the social networking site on Nov. 18, has since deleted the comments from his page. McIntyre quoted them on his, where they can still be seen.

“Cowboys fans, that’s how they are,” Gaffney said Monday at Redskins Park in his only comments on the matter. “I was just telling the dude, ‘Y’all won, all right? Leave me alone. Don’t talk to me.’ That’s all it was.”

Gaffney caught seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in the loss, the Redskins’ sixth consecutive defeat.
