Oshiomogho Atogwe Inactive For Carolina
By ZAC BOYER | zboyer@freelancestar.com | @ZacBoyer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Oshiomogho Atogwe will not play for the Washington Redskins against Carolina on Sunday after sustaining a knee injury a week ago against Philadelphia.
Reed Doughy will make his third start of the season in replacing Atogwe, who said during the week he would try to warm up with the Redskins.
In addition to Atogwe, the Redskins also left receiver Donte Stallworth, who injured his hamstring at practice Friday, off their active roster. Cornerback Byron Westbrook (hamstring), tight end Chris Cooley (broken finger) and left tackle Trent Williams (right ankle) also were listed as inactive, while linebacker Markus White and defensive end Darrion Scott are healthy scratches.
Receiver Leonard Hankerson and offensive linemen Willie Smith and Maurice Hurt are active for the first time this season. Hankerson is a third-round pick, Hurt a seventh-round pick and Smith went undrafted in April. Smith and Hurt are needed after injuries last week to Williams and left guard Kory Lichtensteiger, who is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
The Panthers listed tight end Richie Brockel, third quarterback Jimmy Clausen, linebacker Omar Gaither, running back Mike Goodson, defensive tackle Frank Kearse, safety Jordan Pugh and offensive tackle Lee Ziemba as their inactives.
