Ryan Kerrigan Named Rookie Of The Month
ASHBURN – Washington Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan was named the NFL Rookie of the Month for September, the league announced Thursday morning.
Kerrigan, who had 13 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown, is the first Redskins player to win the award since safety Chris Horton did so in September 2008.
The interception came in his first game against the New York Giants on Sept. 11, he had his first sack against Arizona and the forced fumble occurred Monday at Dallas.
Kerrigan was a defensive end at Purdue and was selected in the first round, 16th overall, by the Redskins in April’s draft.
