Brian Orakpo Active, Will Face Cardinals

LANDOVER, Md. – Linebacker Brian Orakpo, who sustained an ankle injury in the first quarter of the Washington Redskins’ season-opening victory over the New York Giants a week ago, was not among the seven players listed as inactive against Arizona.

Orakpo sat out only four of 63 plays against the Giants after spraining the ankle on the Giants’ opening offensive series. He was limited in practice during the week but appeared to be walking fine in the locker room and as the team went through stretching and conditioning drills.

“Meds do a body wonders,” Orakpo said Thursday. “I had the adrenaline going, and it’s like basketball – you see a guy roll his ankle and he comes back in the game, but when the game’s over, he’s like, ‘Aah!’ and hurting.

“When I woke up Monday, obviously, when you roll something or you hurt anything, it’s going to have problems the next problem with soreness and things like that. But it’s gotten better as the week went on.”

Strong safety LaRon Landry (hamstring) was not active for the game, nor was linebacker Keyaron Fox (back). Among the healthy scratches were receivers Terrence Austin and Leonard Hankerson, right tackle Willie Smith, linebacker Markus White and defensive end Darrion Scott.

The Cardinals listed cornerbacks Crezdon Butler and Korey Lindsey, running back LaRod Stephens-Howling, linebacker Daryl Washington, tackle D’Anthony Batiste, tight end Jim Dray and third quarterback John Skelton as their inactive players.
