Haynesworth’s assault trial continued
Albert Haynesworth’s misdemeanor assault trial in Fairfax County has been moved from tomorrow to May 26.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office requested a continuance because tomorrow’s docket is too crowded, according to Haynesworth’s attorney, Steve Merril. The Fairfax County General District Court clerk’s office confirmed the reason for the continuance.
Merril said he had no objections to continuing the hearing until May.
Haynesworth is charged with one count of misdemeanor assault. He is accused of punching a man in the face in a road-rage incident on the Fairfax County Parkway on Feb. 2.
A Class 1 misdemeanor conviction carries a maximum sentence of 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
