D.C. police investigating night club incident involving TE Fred Davis
Metropolitan Police are investigating a recent incident at a D.C. night club involving tight end Fred Davis. No arrests have yet been made, Officer Hugh Carew said at 5 p.m. today.
TMZ.com reported this morning that a female patron of Josephine night club filed a police report alleging that Davis grabbed her and hit her in the lip with an object after they each threw drinks on each other. The report cited anonymous law enforcement sources.
Carew confirmed that police are investigating an incident at Josephine, but he did not confirm Davis’ involvement.
Redskins senior vice president Tony Wyllie, however, did acknowledge that Davis is the subject of a police investigation.
“We are aware of the [TMZ.com] report,” Wyllie said. “At this time we are gathering all the facts, and we defer all comments until that process is completed.”
Davis did not return a cell phone message. However, he told 106.7 The Fan’s Grant Pauslen that he accidentally bumped into a woman at the club last night. Davis said the woman threw her drink in his face, so he threw his drink in her face. He denied hitting her with a champagne bottle.
