Brian Westbrook leaves Redskins Park without a contract
Two-time Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook visited with the Redskins today and departed without a free-agent contract.
Judging from what general manager Bruce Allen had to say this evening about the meeting, it doesn’t appear that anything is imminent.
“”It was an exploratory meeting, and we’ll probably have some meetings down the road,” Allen told reporters at a NFL High School Player Development program event at Spingarn High in D.C.
Westbrook is scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos tomorrow, which will make three free-agent visits for the injury-plagued back (St. Louis was the other).
Westbrook, 30, could help the Redskins on third down with his pass-blocking and receiving skills, but his durability is a major concern. In addition to the two concussions that limited him to eight games last season, he has long been hampered by ankle and knee problems.
