Larry Johnson no-shows scheduled meeting with media
Redskins running back Larry Johnson joined the team earlier this month hoping to overcome a checkered past and prove that he can be an asset to the organization.
He’s not off to a glowing start, though.
Johnson did not show up for his scheduled meeting with reporters this afternoon at Redskins Park. A team spokesman said Johnson was not at the facility today and that the team would try to reschedule the meeting.
Now, is this a big deal in the grand scheme of things? Not necessarily. The Redskins are concluding their second week of offseason workouts today, but the sessions are voluntary.
However, Johnson’s meeting with reporters had been scheduled in advance, and he didn’t honor the commitment. Does that say something about him? I’ll let you decide. For what it’s worth, coach Mike Shanahan told reporters at the league meetings in Orlando yesterday that Johnson had attended each offseason workout so far.
Johnson is the Redskins’ highest-profile free-agent signing, and people are eager to hear his thoughts about trying to revive his career here and competing with Clinton Portis for carries.
It appears we’ll have to wait on that.
