Day 2, 3rd round, the Redskins’ select CB Kevin Barnes
The third round is underway, and the Redskins just took University of Maryland cornerback Kevin Barnes.
Barnes is 6-1, 187 pounds. He played high school ball at Old Mill HS in Glen Burnie, about 30 miles from FedEx Field.
He missed six games in 2008 because he fractured his left shoulder blade making a hit against Wake Forest on Oct. 18. He’s healthy now, though.
Barnes, according to a Washington Times report, scored the highest of any player in this year’s draft on the Wonderlic test, which measures intelligence. He seemed like a smart dude when we talked to him a couple minutes ago. When asked what he knew about the Redskins’ cornerback situation, he immediately noted that they re-signed DeAngelo Hall, Carlos Rogers is in the last year of his contract and that Fred Smoot is getting older.
Sounds like someone has done his homework.
You may remember Barnes from his hit last season on California running back Jahvid Best. It became a YouTube sensation because Best vomited on the field after it. I have posted the link below. Please don’t watch is if you easily get queasy or just drank some lemon-lime Gatorade.
