Brian Orakpo, your newest Washington Redskin
There were 7 minutes, 35 seconds left on the clock when the Redskins selected Brian Orakpo from Texas. They also had a Skins’ jersey ready with Orakpo’s name on the back, and they handed it to him in New York. Think the Redskins wanted him??
He’s a stout pass rusher, the type the Redskins haven’t drafted in years. Many league observers expected Orakpo to be drafted long before the Skins’ pick at No. 13. He won the Nagurski Award, given annually to the best defensive player in Division I college football. He’s also a first-team all-American.
I’m guessing Dan Snyder, Vinny Cerrato and Jim Zorn are going to geek out about this pick in the news conference. I’ll let you know what they say.
For now, let me know if you like the pick by posting a comment.
