A pair of baby boys arrives on the hospital’s second birthday
Birthday cheer came in twos yesterday at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
The hospital celebrated its second anniversary with the births of babies to two of its employees. The two newborns were boys. For the two moms, it was the second time they’d delivered at Spotsylvania Regional.
“Everything went really smooth,” said Melissa Cunningham.
Melissa gave birth to Elijah William Christian Cunningham at 4:58 a.m. Thursday. Elijah weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. His older sister, McKinnley, was born at Spotsylvania Regional 22 months ago. Their dad, Terry Cunningham, is senior leader for cardiopulmonary services.
A few hours earlier, Allison Webb gave birth to Eli Jude Webb. Eli was born at 11:03 p.m. Wednesday. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. His brother, Silas, was born at Spotsylvania Regional 18 months ago in the same labor and delivery room. Jacob Webb, their dad, has been a registered nurse at the hospital since it opened.
“It happened so quick,” he said.
Officials put up posters and balloons and served birthday cake on Thursday. The hospital opened June 7, 2010.
