Children’s National adds to its duties at Mary Washington, Stafford
Mary Washington Healthcare has expanded its partnership with the Children’s National Medical Center.
Specialists from the Washington hospital are now providing 24-hour pediatric care at Mary Washington and Stafford hospitals.
Children’s National doctors care for babies in the neonatal intensive care unit at Mary Washington and in the newborn nurseries at Mary Washington and Stafford. This is in addition to the pediatric hospitalist service that Children’s National has provided at Mary Washington since October 2009.
“We wanted all the pediatric and neonatal care to be under one provider so that we have consistency,” said Cathy Yablonski, administrator at Stafford Hospital.
Mary Washington’s new relationship with Children’s National started Feb. 1 and is part of a three-year contract. Children’s National replaces Pediatrix Medical Group, the company that had been staffing the NICU at Mary Washington and the newborn nursery at Stafford.
Children’s National now has 10 pediatric hospitalists and 5 neonatologists assigned to the Fredericksburg area. Usually two pediatric hospitalists and two neonatologists are on duty at any time.
