Mary Washington, Anthem reach new provider agreement
Mary Washington Healthcare is again a provider with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
The hospital and insurance company reached an agreement on a new 3-year contract. The two made a joint announcement this afternoon. The new deal takes effect today.
“We are very pleased to have reached agreement and look forward to continuing to provide high quality, state-of-the-art care to Anthem members for many years to come,” said Fred Rankin, president of Mary Washington Healthcare, in a statement.
The new deal comes exactly one month after Mary Washington split from Anthem’s network. The agreement means that Mary Washington Hospital, Stafford Hospital, the Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center and both the in-patient and day programs at Snowden at Fredericksburg are again in-network providers.
“Anthem and Mary Washington Healthcare have enjoyed a long relationship, and we are pleased to have their facilities back in our provider networks,” said C. Burke King, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia, in the statement.
The deal is welcome news for Anthem’s 77,000 local customers, many of whom were uncertain about their coverage and the cost of being treated at out-of-network facilities.
