Land at Stafford; reflections on year one
In case you missed them, here are two recent articles that might interest you:
The first appeared in our paper on Saturday and was by my colleague Bill Freehling. It is available here. In it, he reports on Medicorp Properties’ purchase of 12.55 acres beside Stafford Hospital.
A sample: Mary Washington Healthcare doesn’t have immediate plans for the land, said Marie Frederick, vice president for properties and ambulatory services. The company saw an opportunity to buy adjacent land that meets future growth needs and allows it to shape the destiny of that area.
The second is by Nancy Littlefield, chief nursing officer at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Littlefield is a regular blogger. On Tuesday, she reflected on the hospital’s first year. Her piece can be seen here.
In this sample, she lists some of her favorite memories:
- In the first weeks of opening, spending the night in the empty patient rooms just in case any of us were needed during the night
- Seeing my Mom and Dad in the lobby of the hospital on opening day just to give encouragement
- Getting a text message one early morning that let me know we were about to have our first Spotsy baby
