Petrasky departs health district
Dr. John Petrasky is no longer director of the Rappahannock Area Health District.
Maribeth Brewster, spokeswoman for the Health Department’s Northern Virginia district, confirmed this afternoon that Petrasky has departed the local office in Fredericksburg. She also said that Dr. Brooke Rossheim has been named acting director to replace him.
Brewster said she received word of the change on Monday. Petrasky is said to have left the office last Friday.
Brewster referred all questions to Jeff Lake, deputy commissioner for community health services in Richmond. Lake was travelling this afternoon and not available for comment.
Rossheim is already an acting director–of the Chickahominy Health District, which includes Hanover, New Kent, Goochland and Charles City counties.
Petrasky began work in Fredericksburg about 11 months ago. He led the local office this fall during the unprecedented, community-wide H1N1 vaccination program. He served as a local health director for 22 years in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula before moving to Virginia.
Petrasky could not be reached for comment.
