Detour to be erected soon near hospital
Don’t forget that it will be a little tougher to get to Mary Washington Hospital starting in a few hours.
U.S. 1 in front of the hospital will be closed starting at 8 p.m. and continuing through noon Sunday. The road is being closed to install a pedestrian walkway from the University of Mary Washington campus to its new Eagle Village complex.
If you’re headed south on U.S. 1, say from Stafford County, and going to the hospital, the work won’t affect you. The main entrance by the CVS pharmacy will remain open during construction. However, if you’re headed north, say from Spotsylvania County, you won’t be able to reach the hospital from U.S. 1. All hospital traffic will be detoured to Cowan Boulevard and the entrance there.
(Fredericksburg’s public works department has published a press release and a set of maps that can be seen here. The photo above is of the supports for the pedestrian bridge above U.S. 1.)
