Rikki’s Refuge buys site for thrift shop; holding yard sale on Sunday

Rikki’s Refuge in Orange County is expanding into the thrift shop business, founder Kerry Hilliard said.

Thanks to five donors, the organization now owns the former JT Lacy Appliances site at 3503 Lafayette Boulevard near Four Mile Fork in Spotsylvania County.

Hilliard hopes to have the 8,800-square-foot space ready for operation in January.

It will operate as “Re–Tail: A Pawesome Resale Shop” and offer gently used clothing, toys, household goods and furniture. The plan is for it to support both the refuge and other animal shelter operations in the region.

To kick things off, the group is holding a yard sale at the thrift shop site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
