Parking, Road Closures for Spotsylvania 150th Re-enactments

MORE: Read more news from Fredericksburg

The 150th Commemoration of the Battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse will take place in Spotsylvania on May 3-4, 2014. Complete details and online registration are available at

The magnitude of this anniversary commemoration will impact traffic flow in the areas near Robert E. Lee Elementary School, that section of Brock Road, and Route 208, the Spotsylvania Courthouse Bypass/Lake Anna Parkway.

Onsite registration will be ongoing during all of the days of the Reenactment, and event activities will be focused around this general area.

Old Battlefield Boulevard, which runs in front of the County’s Merchant Square Building (home of the Department of Social Services, plus the Building, Code Compliance, Economic Development/Tourism, Planning and Zoning Departments) will be closed for thru-traffic from Wednesday, April 30 COB through Sunday, May 4, 2014.

Please help alert the community about anticipated heavy traffic throughout this area, also impacting Business Route 208 (an access route to the Holbert Building, home of several County departments, plus access to the Courts and Public Safety buildings – no closure, just traffic). Please expect heavy traffic and potentially limited parking in this overall area.

We hope all will be a part of this living history event which is taking place in our own backyard. The patience of the residential and traveling public is requested and much appreciated, thank you!
