C-SPAN-3 this weekend: Blogging the Civil War

MORE: Read more news from Fredericksburg

Penn Hall at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. (GETTYSBURG COLLEGE)

Tonight and Sunday, C-SPAN3 is airing an on-camera conversation among Civil War bloggers Kevin Levin (Civil War Memory), Keith Harris (Cosmic America) and Brooks D. Simpson (Crossoads), moderated by historian Peter S. Carmichael, director of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College.

Simpson, Harris and Levin explain how they try to ensure credibility and accuracy in their posts, and describe their interactions with people who read their blogs. The trio’s panel discussion was part of June’s popular Civil War Institute conference on the Gettysburg College campus.

C-SPAN3 will air the 80-minute  session at 6 p.m. and 10 pm. EDT Saturday, and 11 a.m. Sunday (at those times, click here for a live feed). The session will also air on C-SPAN radio at 9:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday. You can even listen to the radio stream on your smartphone, with the C-SPAN Radio app.

Carmichael, the college’s Robert C. Fluhrer Professor of Civil War Studies, was once upon a time a historian at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.
