Robert Szabo, famed wet-plate collodion artist, stars in this 4-part Wide Awake Films documentary on Civil War photographer Alexander Gardner, a native of Scotland who made some of the most iconic images of the conflict.
It was filmed for BBC Scotland.
Szabo, a former Stafford County resident, had a studio in Fredericksburg. With recent credits in National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler, he now roams the country photographing historic places and re-enactors — of all kinds — at living-history events.
This past spring, he sent up his canvas darkroom at the Spotsylvania County Civil War Reenactment.
