Enjoy ‘An Evening with the Melchers’
For anyone who likes the artwork of the late Gari Melchers, the once world-famous American impressionist who lived in Stafford County–or the beauty of the estate left to Virginia by his widow, Corinne–an event this Thursday evening should be a winner.
You’re invited to “An Evening with the Melchers,” a program of the Stafford County Historical Society, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Belmont, the historic hilltop house in Falmouth that the Melchers called home.
The couple will be remembered, firsthand, through stories and
experiences recounted by local residents Richard Chichester, Bobby Crisp, Glenna Graves, Marion B. Robinson and Janet Sullivan, the society says.
Gari Melchers’ home and studio is at 224 Washington Street in Falmouth, just a few hundred feet off U.S. 17 near U.S. 1. If you’re traveling on Interstate 95, use Exit 133A (Falmouth). The national historic landmark’s phone number is (540) 654-1015. More information about the site can be found here.
