‘Breakfast with the Curator’ this Tuesday

Interested in how the news was reported 50 years ago or 150 years ago? There was a world of difference between the two periods, especially when comparing the Civil War years and more modern-day journalism.
Comparisons are startling, too, between papers of the 1860s and those published in the 18th century.
To learn more about American newspapering, especially as it was practiced in Virginia and the Fredericksburg area, join Mary Helen Dellinger, curator of the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11th, for the museum’s latest “Breakfast with the Curator.
Enjoy a light breakfast and a discussion of the museum’s new exhibit, “Above the Fold.” The exhibition includes examples from many eras, including the Civil War and Colonial times.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, email mdellinger@famcc.org or call 540/371-3037, ext. 400.
