In case you missed the cable-TV broadcast of this excellent three-part series, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m., the National Geographic Channel will run “Civil Warriors” again.
The show tracks descendants of people who took part in the war as they discover more about their ancetor’s experience. There’s a segment on fugitive slave John Washington and two of his descendants who visited Fredericksburg last fall. Abby Hopper Gibbons, an abolitionist and a nurse who treated wounded in Fredericksburg–and who was profiled on the always wonderful “Mysteries and Conundrums” blog (see here)–is also included. And no one who’s met him can miss seeing re-enactor Robert Lee Hodge’s appearance in the show.
