Curator to speak on Iwo Jima flag
An event this weekend at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, in Triangle, sounds well worth taking in.
Museum curator Neil Abeslma will host a “Curator’s Chat” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, on the museum’s iconic Iwo Jima flag.
After his talk, artist Dustin Neese will discuss his painting “Honoring the Spirit of Courage, Perseverance and Liberty” and the Iwo Jima veterans who inspired it.
The program is free.
The museum is just off U.S. 1 south of Triangle. Its street address is 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway.
The phone number is 703/784-6116, and the website is www.usmcmuseum.org.
