The Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center will hold a Christmastime “Culture and Cocktails” event this Thursday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m.

Join museum President Ellen Killough and Mary Helen Dellinger, senior vice president of collections and exhibitions in the galleries at the Catherine W. Jones McKann Center (1001 Princess Anne St.) for a special holiday program on trains and the heritage of railroading in Fredericksburg.

Dellinger and Edwin W. Watson, president emeritus of the museum, will  give an illustrated talk. Watson is one of the most knowledgeable people alive on the nationally significant history of the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad, which linked North and South for many decades. It’s the reason that so many U.S. presidents have passed through town, among other things.

The program is free, and light refreshments will be served.

Registration is required; e–mail Mary Helen Dellinger at or call 540/371-3037, ext. 400.
