Today at Brandy Station: ‘Why Study the Civil War?’

JMU history professor Bob Jacobs will speak Sunday afternoon at Brandy Station on the topic “Why Study the Civil War?”

An adjunct professor at James Madison University for 30 years, Jacobs was a public school classroom teacher for 30 years and director of social studies for Frederick County public schools for eight years.

Held at 2 p.m. at the historic Graffiti House, 19484 Brandy Road in eastern Culpeper County, Jacobs’ talk is sponsored by the Brandy Station Foundation as part of its Sunday lecture series. The event is free. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit the nonprofit group’s website, brandystationfoundation.com. Donations are welcome.

Sunday’s previously scheduled speaker, Richard Deardoff, had to cancel.
