Cuccinelli to sign new book in Fredericksburg Friday
Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli will hold a book-signing in Fredericksburg Friday night.
Cuccinelli will be signing “The Last Line of Defense: The New Fight for the American Constitution” at the Barnes and Noble on Carl Silver Parkway at 6 p.m.
According to a release from his publicist, Cuccinelli “has seen firsthand the rampant law-breaking of the federal government,” and the book “explores the numerous courtroom battles fought against the Obama administration.”
Cuccinelli, as attorney general, has filed lawsuits against the federal health care law, the Environmental Protection Agency and others. His belief that the federal government is too big and frequently has overstepped its constitutional authority is well-known.
Democrats have seized on excerpts from the book published in Politico and the Washington Post, focusing on passages that criticize social service programs. On Tuesday Democrats in Richmond staged a reading of parts of the book at a press conference, urging Virginians to read it under the belief that it will turn off moderate voters who might be leery of Cuccinelli’s stances.
The book went on sale this week.
