Michelle Obama event will be at UMW in Fredericksburg
The Obama campaign is releasing more details on Friday’s campaign event by First Lady Michelle Obama.
She will speak at 6 pm Friday at Goolrick Hall gymnasium at the University of Mary Washington.
Doors will open to the public at 2:30 that afternoon. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, starting at 11 am Wednesday at the Organizing for America Fredericksburg office at 1281 Central Park Boulevard. Tickets will also be available at the Culpeper Democratic headquarters at 102 North Main Street, Suite 201 in Culpeper.
Michelle Obama is also holding an event earlier in the day in Charlottesville.
According to a release from the Obama campaign, the First Lady “will speak about what’s at stake in this election for Virginians, encourage supporters to register to vote and volunteer for the campaign, and thank volunteers for their hard work to help re-elect President Obama in November.”
The First Lady’s visit comes days after her husband, President Barack Obama, made a two-day campaign swing through Virginia. Virginia is considered a key swing state this year, with Obama running just slightly ahead of Republican rival Mitt Romney in most polls. Both campaigns are running frequent TV ads in the state and both candidates have made multiple visits here.
