Susan Allen campaigns in Fredericksburg
On Thursday Republican U.S. Senate candidate George Allen launched a two-week campaign tour, aimed at rallying his supporters for the June 12 primary.
Allen is considered the favorite to win that primary, but there are three other candidates, all of whom are vocal candidates and at least one of whom — Jamie Radtke — has targeted her campaign at Allen. This week Radtke put out radio ads that call Allen “an election disaster waiting to happen.”
Allen held events Thursday in the Shenandoah Valley, but dispatched wife Susan Allen — who keeps an active schedule as a campaign surrogate for her husband — to Fredericksburg.
Susan Allen rallied Allen supporters at a lunch at Blue and Gray Brewing Company and toured local business Coins for Anything Inc.
A release from the campaign quoted Susan Allen as saying an Allen win on June 12 would “send a message to Washington,” and reminding supporters that “every vote counts.”
In his own statement, Allen said the message he wants voters to send is that “we Virginians want more freedom and opportunity and less government meddling in our lives and businesses. … I’m positive about America’s future because this election we can choose to reinvigorate the entrepreneurial spirit of our nation through responsible tax, reasonable regulatory and empowering energy policies that free job creators to invest, grow and create new jobs.”
Susan Allen is also scheduled to speak this evening at a Westmoreland County Republican candidate forum.
