Dates set for three Va Senate GOP primary debates
The Republican Party of Virginia today announced the dates for three debates for Republican U.S. Senate candidates before June’s primary.
The debates will be Saturday, April 28 at 3 p.m. in Roanoke; Friday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Hampton Roads; and Friday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Northern Virginia.
More details will be announced later. Any candidate that qualifies for the primary, scheduled for June 12, is invited to participate. So far, both George Allen and Jamie Radtke have submitted petitions – both with more than double the 10,000 minimum number of signatures required — to qualify for the ballot. Del. Bob Marshall is still circulating his petitions, and several other candidates are running as well.
According to RPV, the party expects to certify its candidates no later than April 3.
Both Radtke and Allen have said they will participate in the debates, which RPV announced last fall.
