McDonnell schedules local fundraiser
Gov. Bob McDonnell is holding a fundraiser for his Opportunity Virginia PAC in Fredericksburg next week.
The event, which is closed to press, appears to be a luncheon at the Fredericksburg Marriott on Caroline Street on Tuesday.
McDonnell has been using the PAC to help Republican General Assembly candidates this year. As of the end of June, it had more than $3 million, and was donating thousands to candidates and other Republican groups, including $50,000 to Republican state Senate candidate Bryce Reeves in the 17th District, and $50,000 to House Speaker Bill Howell’s Dominion Leadership Trust PAC (which then makes more donations to candidates).
Opportunity Virginia also reported donating more than $500,000 to the Republican Party of Virginia this week, and $25,000 to the Majority Leader PAC, run by House Majority Leader Del. Kirk Cox.
