Quantico center growing
Quantico Corporate Center may soon be getting office space, a restaurant and a day care added to its corporate campus.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors recently approved the rezoning of 3 acres of a 9-acre parcel to make way for a two-story commercial building.
Quantico Business Center LLC is looking to have a Minnieland Academy as the child care center on the first floor of a building that would also include a restaurant and office space. The applicant didn’t provide details about the restaurant.
The site was rezoned from light industrial to urban commercial in order to allow the day care center to locate there.
“Child care is a big problem for the families that work there, particularly the women. So I’m happy to see this,” Supervisor Laura Sellers said before she voted to approve the rezoning.
Supervisor Paul Milde also supported the project, saying that he has never heard of a complaint about the Minnieland in Stafford off of Interstate 95.
Plans call for an outdoor patio for restaurant seating and an enclosed play area for the child care center. The rest of the 9-acre parcel is vacant.
Supervisor Bob Thomas abstained from voting to avoid a conflict of interests. His commercial software company provides services to government and commercial customers.
Without commenting, Chairman Jack Cavalier cast the sole dissenting vote.
