Man, two kids charged in burglary
Video from a surveillance camera has led to charges against a 19-year-old man and two juveniles—including a 12-year-old—in connection with a burglary at a King George County convenience store this week.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kecia Wharton said Pern’s Market on State Route 3 was broken into around midnight late Monday or early Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office was called Tuesday after extensive damage was discovered at the store, including multiple broken windows. At least one of the suspects cut himself during the break-in, police said.
Various items were taken from the store, including cigarillos, energy drinks and lighters.
Detectives Joe Patterson and Drew Massey and Deputy Doug Jones reviewed surveillance footage and quickly recognized one of the suspects. Within a day they knew who the other two were, Wharton said.
Warrants were obtained and the adult and at least one of the juveniles were arrested Friday. The second juvenile is 14; neither juvenile is being named because of their ages.
Tyrone Lamar Callahan Jr., 19, and the juveniles are charged with breaking and entering, grand larceny and destruction of property.
