Man, 75, to serve five years in child porn case

A 75-year-old Stafford County man was ordered Thursday to serve five years in prison for looking at child pornography.

Norman Keith Palosky was sentenced in Stafford Circuit Court to 35 years with 30 years suspended. He had pleaded guilty to 30 counts of possessing child pornography and one count of reproducing it.

According to the evidence presented by prosecutor Ed Lustig, a Northern Virginia task force was monitoring Internet child pornography activity several years back when detectives noticed someone trying to download a child pornography movie.

They traced the Internet address to Palosky’s home on Randolph Road in southern Stafford, and a search warrant was executed there on Dec. 5, 2012.

Palosky was on his computer viewing child porn when authorities entered his home, and thousands of images were later found on his computer.

Lustig said the images showed children naked, but not involved in sex acts. He said there is no indication that Palosky ever molested a child.

Court records state that Palosky became addicted to adult pornography years earlier before becoming interested in children.

He said he and his wife spent most of each day on their computers, and he was ashamed of his addiction and had no idea he had amassed so many pictures.

Judge Charles Sharp’s sentence was below the recommended state sentencing guidelines, which called for a minimum sentence of eight years to serve. Sharp called Palosky’s action “deplorable,” but said he considered his age, poor health and lack of prior criminal history in going below the guidelines.

One of the conditions of Palosky’s sentence is that he never be on the Internet again.

Attorney Shama Farooq represented Palosky.
