Richmond furrier planning local store
A seventh-generation business in Richmond plans to open a store in downtown Fredericksburg.
Alan Furs expects to open Alan Furs & Bash Boutique on Sept. 1 at 804 Caroline St., with a grand opening in October.
The company has held trunk shows in the Fredericksburg area for a number of years, and also picked up customers’ coats for repairs and storage.
“We have a customer base there and a lot of customers were asking us to open,” said Arlyn Gleason, assistant to co-owner Dina Alan. “She felt it was a good time to do it, and we found a great location.”
The space had been the location of A Place In Time until Jan. 31, when its owners retired. Fredericksburg’s Economic Development Authority recently awarded a $4,500 grand to Alan Furs for signage and façade improvements.
The new store will sell furs and fur accessories, and offer repairs, remodeling and storage. Its Bash Boutique will carry handbags and totes, jewelry, gift items, Christmas decorations and baby clothes.
Brands will include Brighton, Sloane Ranger, All for Color, Milly, Alexis Battar and Freida Rothman.
Alan Furs & Bash Boutique will hold a charity fashion show Nov. 5 at the Fredericksburg Country Club.
