Dahlgren base gets new commanding officer
Naval Support Activity South Potomac, the command responsible for managing operations at Dahlgren, said its farewells to outgoing commanding officer Capt. Pete Nette at a change of command ceremony.
A press release from the command said Capt. Mary Feinberg relieved Nette of his duties at a Thursday morning ceremony at Dahlgren.
Presiding over the ceremony was Rear Adm. Markham Rich, commandant of Naval District Washington. Rich said that NSASP provided sailors and Marines with critical support.
Rich also noted that Nette had enhanced both the environmental aspect and community relations of his command through the South Potomac Community Relations Council.
“Capt. Nette and his staff set the standard for building relationships,” Rich said in the release. “I think you need to do nothing more than look around the audience to see how much effort he puts into the communities.”
Nette expressed gratitude for the opportunities and operations he had been part of while in command, as well as the support provided for his family.
“We have made this place our temporary home and made many friendships along the way,” he said.
Nette will be director of operations for Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, which is headquartered in Norfolk.
Feinberg thanked Nette for helping her to understand the command’s mission and looked forward to interacting with the various tenant commands at Dahlgren and in Indian Head, Md.
Feinberg said that the command had “established a successful battle rhythm” she looked forward to joining.
“I look forward to continuing to provide you,” she said, “the strong leadership to which you’ve become accustomed.”
