SUV crashes, on two wheels, into parked car in city
A Chevrolet Traverse was left balancing on two wheels after crashing into a parked car in Fredericksburg early Thursday.
The driver walked away unscathed and only property was damaged in the accident, said Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones.
The SUV, which was a rental car, exited the St. Mary Catholic Church parking lot onto Stafford Avenue, and then failed to make a turn onto William Street, said city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.
The driver then hit a parked Mitsubishi Galant and the impact forced the smaller car to rear-end a parked Dodge pickup, Bledsoe said.
The Chevrolet’s right front tire ended up through the driver’s-side window of the Mitsubishi, she added.
The Fredericksburg Fire Department had a unit standing by at the scene, on Stafford Avenue near William Street, until a tow truck could securely move the vehicle, Jones said.
The extent of the damage the accident caused is unknown at this time.
Timothy Smith, 53, of Manassas was charged with reckless driving, Bledsoe said.
