Suspicious package shuts Stafford roads
At about 6 p.m. Sunday, Stafford County Sheriff’s officers responded to the report of a suspicious package on the corner of Mine Road and High Point Boulevard.
As a precaution, the streets in the surrounding area were closed until authorities could determine whether the package posed a danger, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said in a statement.
The Stafford Sheriff’s Office, Stafford Fire and Rescue and a Marine Corps Emergency Response Squad from Quantico responded to the site.
The package was found to be harmless, and the roads were re-opened shortly afterward.
