Surveillance leads to Caroline man’s arrest
A Caroline County man is facing drug charges after authorities seized approximately 15 pounds of marijuana from his Lake Land’Or home.
According to Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa, narcotics investigators received a tip about suspicious activity at an address in the Lake Land’Or subdivision.
The home was placed under surveillance on June 27 which led investigators to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle that had been parked at the home, Lippa said.
A search of that vehicle by investigators and a narcotic-detecting K–9 recovered approximately 7 pounds of what investigators believed to be marijuana, he said.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home of the driver, which is also in Lake Land’Or, and seized an additional 8 pounds of what they believed to be marijuana, Lippa said.
The driver, 32-year-old Walter Jerome Saunders Jr., is charged with two counts of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 12 in Caroline General District Court.
Saunders is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.
