Spotsylvania house lost in overnight fire
Fire destroyed a two-story house Wednesday night in Spotsylvania County’s Lake Wilderness subdivision.
Firefighters responded to the 10:13 p.m. emergency call that flames were shooting through the roof of the home on Henkins Lane, said Deputy Chief of Operations Joe Sposa.
Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, he said.
The home was a total loss, Sposa said. Fire burned through the entire roof and extensively damaged the second floor.
Smoke filled the first floor and basement, causing damage. Water used to put the fire out caused additional damage to the first floor, he said.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured on the call.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Sposa said.
