Man charged with stabbing stepson
A Fredericksburg man is accused of stabbing his 38-year-old stepson multiple times during an altercation at their home Wednesday evening.
Michael Anthony Conway, 56, is charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault and battery in connection with the incident, which occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the 200 block of Mayfield Avenue.
City police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said officers went to the home and found that the victim had been stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen. The investigation revealed that Conway and the victim had been arguing in Conway’s bedroom just before witnesses saw the victim stumbling out of the room bleeding.
Bledsoe said none of the witnesses actually saw the assault. The victim and the suspect were still at the home when police arrived, Bledsoe said, though the victim was soon taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Conway was also served with two outstanding warrants charging him with violating probation. He was on probation stemming from prior convictions involving passing counterfeit money, court records show.
Conway was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
