Tractor trailer accident blocks 95 south

overturnedAn overturned tractor-trailer has all lanes blocked on Interstate 95 southbound at milemarker 104 in Caroline County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

UPDATE 8:30 p.m. All lanes are now open on I-95 south at mile marker 104 in Caroline County. The on ramp to I-95 south from Route 207 has also reopened.

 

UPDATE: 3:25 p.m.

VDOT has opened the left lane and left shoulder to traffic on I-95 south at mile marker 104 in Caroline County.

Two travel lanes and the ramp to I-95 south from Route 207 remain closed.

Crews are in the process of removing the contents of the overturned tractor trailer and anticipate that two lanes will remain closed through the evening rush hour.

Motorists should expect major delays in this area.

Delays begin south of Exit 110 (Route 639/Ladysmith).

In addition, the ramp to Exit 104 (Rt. 207/Carmel Church) is also blocked.

Traffic is getting by the crash site by using the shoulder lane. However, there is a five-mile backup on I-95 south. Delays begin at Exit 110 (Rt. 639/Ladysmith).

Southbound motorists are encouraged to use Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County to access U.S. 1 south.
