Pedestrian killed in Spotsylvania
A man died after he was struck by a vehicle on Gordon Road in Spotsylvania County late Friday night, according to Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, 55-year-old Dwain Dillard of Spotsylvania, was walking in the 11800 block of Gordon Road around 11:30 p.m., police said He was struck by a westbound vehicle when he stopped in the roadway, police said. Pearce said he may have been attempting to cross the road.
Though deputies arrived on the scene and began administering CPR, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to extensive trauma from the collision.
According to First Sgt. Tim Bryner of the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, alcohol was not a factor with the 52-year-old driver of the vehicle, who has not been charged.
Bryner said the investigation is ongoing.
