An 18-year-old woman reported that she was followed and briefly chased while walking along a Fredericksburg street Thursday afternoon, police said.
The victim said she was in the area of the 400 block of Hawke Street about 1 p.m. when a green Ford Expedition with two young men in it pulled up beside her, according to city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe. The victim ignored them and kept walking.
The Expedition circled the block and got behind the woman again, Bledsoe said. This time, the passenger got out and started walking behind her.
The victim said that she then started running and the man ran for a short distance behind her, never catching up to her. He then got back in the vehicle and the vehicle left the area.
The men were described only as black males in their 20s. The victim said she had never seen them before and did not get a tag number.
Bledsoe said the incident wasn’t reported to police until about six hours after it happened.
