Spotsylvania County authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating two men accused of stealing money from a hotel cash register while dressed as women.
According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, two people entered the lobby of America’s Best Value Inn in the 5000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at 3:22 a.m. on Sunday.
Not seeing the hotel clerk around, one of them located an unlocked sliding door near the cash register and crawled inside the office and stole money from the register, police said.
Both people were then seen walking down Jefferson Davis Highway, police said.
Police say witnesses reported seeing the pair at a second hotel earlier in the night being dropped off in a blue van.
Witnesses also told police that the suspects appeared to be a black male and a white male wearing dresses, hats and carrying purses.
Police said the men have been identified as Antonio Frazier of Stafford County, also known as Chenelle Smith; and Lorenzo Hamid Calderon of King George County, also known as Lauren Calderon Canus.
Both are 21.
They are each charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit grand larceny.
