Thunderstorms knock out power in Caroline

UPDATE at 10 p.m.: Power has been restored to all REC customers in Caroline. More than 400 Spotsylvania and 60 Fredericksburg Dominion customers remain without power.

UPDATE at 9:05 p.m.: REC has begun restoring power. About 500 remaining in Caroline without electricity.

UPDATE: Dominion Power also reporting widespread outages. More than 400 customers in Spotsylvania are without power due to the storms. No estimated time for restoration.

More than 1,000 Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Customers are without power tonight due to severe storms moving through the area.

According to spokeswoman Ann Lewis, REC has dispatched crews to the outage area, around Milford.

At this time the disruption is still being located and REC does not know when power will be restored.

However, updates will be posted on their website here as they are available.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers and thunderstorms will affect the Fredericksburg  region through 1 a.m. Wednesday.
